In 1810, Count Francesco Melzi d'Eril built a summer residence on the banks of Lake Como. Aristocrats, artists and royalty came from far and wide to admire the neoclassical villa and sprawling English-style gardens. Over 200 years later, Lake Como is still a playground for the rich and famous; and as you stare out over the cool, crisp water it’s easy to see why.

- Day 2 Lake Como ~ Villa del Balbianello ~ Bellagio
After a morning walking tour it’s time to head out on Lake Como. Stop at Villa del Balbianello and the village of Lenno before a ferry to Bellagio, ‘the Pearl of Lake Como’. Settle into your hotel, with its large protruding swimming pool that makes it feel as if you are swimming in Lake Como.Accommodation:Borgo le Terrazze
- Day 3 Bellagio ~ Villa Carlotta
Begin your exploration of Bellagio with a short walk and lunch on the waterfront. Board a boat to Tremezzo and visit the 17th century Villa Carlotta. Ascend the gentle hills above the lake then walk through ancient villages and terraced footpaths before returning to your hotel.Accommodation:Borgo le Terrazze
- Day 4 Varenna ~ Vezio
Take the local ferry to Varenna, considered by many to be the most picturesque town on Lake Como. The Sentiero del Viandante (Wayfarer Trail) takes you through the hills above Lake Lecco to the hamlet of Vezio, inhabited by just 20 families. - Day 5 Lake Maggiore
Welcome to Switzerland! Board a private boat to the Sanctuary of Saint Catherine, the famous Borromean Isles and the gardens of Palazzo Borromeo. Settle into your hotel situated in the middle of the lake on Isola dei Pescatori (Fisherman’s Island) and relax, swim or explore before dinner.Accommodation:Hotel Verbano
- Day 6 Lake Orta
Cross the mountain ridge between the two lakes of Maggiore and Orta to explore the medieval village of Orta San Giulio. The Sacro Monte (Holy Mountain) monastic complex holds 20 Baroque chapels depicting the life of St Francis of Assisi. - Day 7 Orta San Giulio ~ Pella ~ Isola San Giulio
You’ll feel as though you’ve stepped back in time when you reach Pella, where centuries-old stone pathways lead to secluded villages and hamlets. Take an afternoon boat trip to Isola San Giulio and visit the renowned Basilica di San Giulio, founded in 390 AD. Freshen up before an aperitivo and dinner at a 16th century wine bar.Accommodation:Hotel San Rocco
- Day 8 Milan
